Airport Transfers

Kwa Madwala Private Game Reserve offers its own in house transfer service to and from KMIA and Oliver Tambo International Airports. Clients will be met at either airport by a Kwa Madwala member of staff. Vehicles are comfortable and air-conditioned.

The transfer from KMIA is an 80 km journey taking one hour and 15 minutes and costs R850-00 per person return. The transfer from Oliver Tambo is a 440 km journey taking five hours (with a half hour rest stop) and costs R2400-00 per person return.

It is recommended that clients fly to KMIA airport and then either self-drive or arrange a transfer to Kwa Madwala.

Driving from KMIA  

  • Take the exit road from KMIA airport and after two minutes you will reach a T- Junction.
  • Turn left and follow the road for approximately 15 minutes until you reach the N4 (National Toll Road).
  • Turn left and drive through the Nkomazi Tollgate to the town of Malelane.
  • Please have either cash or a credit card ready when you reach the Nkomazi Tollgate.
  • Drive past the town of Malelane and stay on the N4. (Do not turn into Malelane!)
  • Drive east on the N4 from Malelane.
  • About plus/minus 18 km after Malelane you will see a turn off on your right hand side called Jeppes Reef Road R570. It is about 1 km before the small town of Hectorspruit.
  • This road is signposted Kwa Madwala/Low Hills and Inkuba Game Farm.
  • Please note there are two turnoffs after Malelane the second goes to Kwa Madwala Private Game Reserve. Please do not take the first turn off just after Malelane!
  • Continue for 4.5 km on the Jeppes Reef Road and take the first turn off to your left that you will reach after turning onto the Jeppes Reef Road, this road is called the Strydomblok Road.
  • Turn left into Strydomblok Road and continue for a further 4.5 km until you see the Kwa Madwala turnoff on your left clearly visible by the lion’s head logo.
  • After 300 m you will arrive at the security entrance gate to the Reserve, the guard at the gate will give you a map of the reserve.

Driving from Johannesburg        

  • Take the M12 which becomes the N4 towards Maputo through the town of Nelspruit.
  • From Nelspruit drive towards Malelane/Komatipoort (N4)
  • You will drive through the Nkomazi Tollgate which is approximately 50 km from Nelspruit and then to the town of Malelane.
  • Please have either cash or a credit card ready when you reach the Nkomazi Tollgate.
  • Drive past the town of Malelane and stay on the N4. (Do not turn into Malelane!)
  • Drive east on the N4 from Malelane.

Driving from Durban via Swaziland        

  • From Durban take the N2 north via Stanger/Mkuze towards Pongola.
  • Approximately 50km after Mkuze and 10km before Pongola take the right turn off for Golela Border Post.
  • Drive towards Big bend for 40km.
  • 5km after Big Bend turn right towards Siteki/Simunye.
  • Follow the road until a T Junction.
  • Turn left and drive for approximately 4km until another T Junction
  • Turn right and drive for approximately38km until you reach the Mananga Border signpost.
  • Exit Swaziland at this point.
  • Drive for approximately 40 km until you reach a big sugar factory on your right.
  • Turn left and go through the private tollgate.
  • Cross over a bridge and follow the road until another tollgate.
  • Turn left, this road takes you straight to Kwa Madwala which is on your right hand side clearly visible by the Lion’s Head Logo.
  • After 300 m you will arrive at the security entrance gate to the Reserve, the guard at the gate will give you a     map of the reserve.

Directions from the Lebombo Gate coming from Mozambique

  • Once through the border post drive on the N4 for approximately 32.7 km until you reach the turn off to Jeppe’s Reef Road (R570) on your left hand side. Turn left here.
  • Carry on for 4.8 km until you reach the Strydomblok turn off on your left hand side. Turn left here.
  • Travel on the Strydomblok Road until you reach a Lion Head’s Logo on your left hand side, this is the turn off to Kwa Madwala Private Game Reserve.
  • From here you will follow a dirt road for 300 m until you reach the security gate to the reserve, the guard at the gate will give you a map of the reserve.

PLEASE NOTE: Watch out for potholes on the Jeppe’s Reef Road!
